ABOUT THE TRANSITION

  • Who is IdeaTek?

    IdeaTek is a Kansas-based internet service provider with a primary focus on broadband services. They specialize in building, operating, and supporting internet networks and will be taking over Velocity’s internet operations.

  • Why is Velocity Transitioning to IdeaTek?

    Velocity is transitioning to IdeaTek as part of a strategic decision that allows each organization to focus on what it does best. Butler Electric Cooperative’s core mission is providing safe, reliable electric service, while IdeaTek specializes in delivering internet services. This transition ensures customers continue to receive high-quality internet service from a company whose primary focus is broadband.

SERVICE & RELABILITY

  • Will my internet service be interrupted?

    No. Your internet service will continue without interruption during the transition.

  • Will my internet speed plan change?

    At this time, there are no immediate changes to your internet speed or plan as a result of the transition. If any changes are planned in the future, customers will be notified well in advance.

  • Do I need to do anything right now?

    No. There is nothing you need to do at this time. The transition is designed to be seamless for customers.

BILLING & ACCOUNTS

  • Will my bill change?

    Once the transition is completed, you will stop receiving bills from Butler/Velocity and start receiving bills from IdeaTek. Any Butler/Velocity bills received during the transition period will still need to be paid.

  • Will I still pay my bill the same way?

    For now, continue paying your bill as you normally do. Once you receive a bill from IdeaTek, please follow instructions on the bill for how to remit payment. If you are set up for autopay or make payments using our app or online platforms, you will receive further instructions.

  • Will my billing date change?

    At this time, no immediate billing date changes are planned. Customers will be notified if that changes in the future.

EQUIPMENT & INSTALLATION

  • Will I need new equipment?

    Most customers will not need new equipment as a result of this transition. If equipment updates are required in the future, customers will be contacted directly.

  • Will technicians need to come to my home?

    No technician visits are required for this transition unless otherwise communicated directly to you.

  • Will I still be able to drop my equipment off at the Rose Hill Library?

    The Rose Hill Library will no longer be accepting equipment 

CUSTOMER SUPPORT & LOCAL SERVICE

  • Who do I contact if I need support?

    Moving forward, IdeaTek will be handling customer support. To contact their tech support call 620-543-5056.

  • Will customer service still be local?

    IdeaTek is committed to providing responsive customer support. Additional details about support operations will be shared as the transition continues.

CONTRACTS & AGREEMENTS

  • Will my contract change?

    Your existing service agreement will continue as your service transitions. If any updates are needed in the future, customers will be notified and provided with details.

  • Will my price change?

    There are no immediate pricing changes associated with this transition. Any future changes would be communicated in advance.
