Who is Velocity?

Velocity is powered by your friends and neighbors at Butler Electric Cooperative. With the mission of digital equity for all Kansans, Velocity was created to bridge the digital divide by being the first rural electric cooperative to offer fiber internet services in the state of Kansas. Everyone deserves access to high-speed internet and we are committed to investing in a fiber-to-the-home project to provide our communities with the best internet and voice services imaginable. This customer-focused internet service will be delivered by local people you know and who take pride in the work they do.

The Next Steps – Getting Service

What is the installation process?

Once you sign up for service, fiber installation is simple. Velocity will follow power lines to attach the fiber to your home or business. The fiber will run to your home or business underground, in the same manner buried power lines run to your home or business. Next, Velocity will attach the fiber line to a box near your electric meter where the inside wiring connects with the outside wiring. Finally, the fiber is connected to a fiber jack inside your home or office, where it’s plugged into the modem.

Can I Use My Own Equipment?

The required equipment is included in your monthly cost. The carrier-class router is small and will allow our team to assist and troubleshoot your service. You must use the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) as the modem. The standard ONT functions as a modem that translates the light signals to standard data formats.

The Benefits

How will I benefit from fiber internet access? Our primary reason for serving Rose Hill is to bring world-class fiber that is found in urban cities across the US right here to rural Kansas. You will be able to stream high-definition media smoothly and quickly, have the data capacity to download and upload data with symmetrical fiber speeds, such as files, photos and videos at super-fast speeds, and have access to the latest technological advancements and applications. This FTTH world-class service will be reliable and affordable.
